A quick review of some of the many Ladder Golf "knock off" versions available.

We have seen dozens of plastic homemade "knock off" versions of the original Ladder Golf game and have received several emails from people with some of the creative names that these "knock off" games have been called. We put together a short list of names and a quick review of a few of the these type of outdoor   games. Don't be fooled by the imitations, when looking for a quality outdoor game.

Here is a list of some of the creative names we have seen for Ladder Golf:
Basically all these type of games listed above can be grouped into one category.  That category would be called "CLOSE BUT NOT THE REAL DEAL".

Most of the "knock off" games are homemade from sprinkler pipe and old range balls. Some are a bit nicer and use colorful sprinkler pipe and new golf balls with holes drilled in them.  None of these games are the quality of Ladder Golf with wood base and sides, the cool knobs that fasten everything together and the real golf balls with brass fasteners and slick carrying case. Ladder Golf is the real deal and I highly recommend this quality outdoor game.

Here is a quick review of some of the games listed above:

Blongo Ball: The nicest of the sprinkler pipe type games. This game uses all new   materials and has a nice colorful box. The bolos feel a bit light and the game looks a bit childish with the bright colored PVC pipe that is used, but overall   it is the only nice "knock off" game available. Still not the real thing, but a nice try.

Bolo Toss: This game as you can see by the images is nothing more than a garage   made game. The ladder is constructed from PVC pipe and sprinkler pipe fittings. I cannot confirm this, but some emails even say that the PVC pipe used still has the printing on it from the hardware store. The bolos are made from spray painted range balls. The bolo balls are fastened by large knots on the ends of the rope. This game might be fun to play, but should be kept hidden in the backyard.

Willy Ball: While this is a nicer effort than Bolo Toss, it is still far from   the quality expected. Willy Ball is constructed of a larger diameter PVC pipe   and also uses sprinkler pipe connectors. Ropes with knots tied on the ends hold   the bolos together.

Rattle Rail Toss: As you can see by the photo this is another game made entirely   from PVC tubing and sprinkler pipe connectors. This is a similar theme among  the games and gives the games a homemade look.

I could go on with all the games listed above but I think you get the idea. My recommendation for a high quality yard game is Ladder Golf, but I think you already figured that out.
