Washers Game
Washers is a game of skill, similar to Horseshoes, in which individuals
or teams compete against one another in an effort to be the first to
reach a winning score of 11, 17 or 21 points. The game consists of two
washer pits located opposite one another, each with a recessed cup.
Contestants stand in one pit and throw washers toward the cup in the
other pit. The object is to land in the cup, or nearest the cup, to
score.
Equipment needed to play Washers:
Washers - Standard washers 2.5" in diameter with a 1" center hole work
best. Paint each teams washers different colors to distinguish them
from the others.
Cups - A 4" diameter cup, usually made out of a piece of PVC pipe or a
tin can, is burried flush into the ground. Some of the modern washers
games are self contained washer pits or washer boardss. These washer
boards are portable pits that have the cup built in and usually are
covered with carpet or some sort. These portable games are great for
playing on lawns, tailgate parties and at t he beach.
Washer Game Pit
Pits - A level surface to burry the cups into usually 5' deap by 3'
wide and filled with sand to allow for sliders. A Pit is not necessary
but adds legitimacy to the game as well as a better sliding surface for
the washers.
